The story of Truman + Teddy began in the spring of 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, when founder David Prince built a ballet barre for his daughter's dance classes. This project sparked a curiosity that led to more tinkering and eventually resulted in David making beds for his family's three dogs. A year later, he left his career in finance to focus on developing a bed for pets unlike any currently on the market. Truman + Teddy was officially born a year after that.
Truman + Teddy is named for two very special dogs in the Prince family. Truman, a senior, previously abused, and terminally ill German Shorthaired Pointer, was fostered by the Princes through Southeast GSP Rescue in 2020. He was considered a hospice foster, but David and his family decided to make Truman's remaining time as joyous as possible. In the end, Truman blessed the Prince family far more than they blessed him. On the day he crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Truman was formally adopted into the Prince family and will forever be remembered.
Just one week before the COVID-19 lockdown, David gifted his wife Jamie a Brussels Griffon puppy for her birthday, affectionately referred to as her "retirement dog." Teddy, a 16-week-old Brussels Griffon, was brought home by the Princes six months later, just weeks after Truman's passing. Teddy has a huge personality and has brought immeasurable joy into their family at a time when they needed it most.
