Race Details
The Tails & Trails 5K takes place at beautiful Conestee Park, where you and your dog can run or walk the trail together. The event is open to everyone, whether you have a dog or not, and there are different categories for runners and walkers. You can choose to run the race with your dog or without, or just walk the trail and enjoy the scenery.
All proceeds from the event go directly to support the Greenville County Animal Care, the largest animal shelter in South Carolina. The shelter helps thousands of animals each year and provides low-cost spay/neuter and veterinary services to assist hundreds of families. By participating in Tails & Trails, you’ll be making a difference in the lives of homeless animals and the families that love them.
Post-Race Activities
After the race, stay a while and enjoy the festivities at the vendor village. You can browse the booths filled with great local goodies or let your pup splash in the puppy pools. There will also be pet-themed entertainment and a vendor party to keep the fun going. And don’t forget to stick around for the award ceremony – you and your furry friend might just win a prize!
Fundraising Opportunities
Tails & Trails 5k is not only a fun event, but it’s also an opportunity to fundraise and make a difference in the lives of animals in need. By setting up a fundraiser and asking your friends, family, and coworkers to join you, you can help raise much-needed funds for the Greenville County Animal Care.
You can set a fundraising goal when you register for the event and send out a challenge to your network to join you in supporting this worthy cause. Prizes will be awarded to participants who raise the most money, and every dollar raised will help support the lifesaving programs provided by the shelter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are there vaccination requirements for my dog to participate in the race?
Dogs are required to have standard vaccinations for rabies, Parvo and Kennel Cough.
Does my dog have to be a certain age to race?
For the safety of your dog and others, no dogs under 4 months of age will be permitted to race. Puppies under 4 months are not old enough to have had the proper vaccinations for them to safely socialize with other dogs.
Can I bring my young child to the race?
Children are welcome to participate in the race as long as they are properly supervised by a parent and they have paid the registration fee. Any child who will be running in the race (will not be carried by a parent) must pay the registration fee (after all, it’s for charity!).
Can I let my dog off its leash?
Dogs must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times. Retractable leaches are discouraged. After the race, you may take your dog over to the Conestee Dog Park area, where they are free to roam off-leash.
What should I bring?
There will be 1 water station along the course that you will pass by twice and one at the finish. If you expect you or your dog to need more water during the race, we suggest you bring water along with you. There will be poop stations at the park, however, you may want to bring along a few bags of your own to be used while you’re on the course.
